My Review of The Possession

Allure and I chose to put the movie The Possession under our microscopes because we wanted to be thrilled and horrified—and we were. Many movies have shown us human possession by evil forces and its chilling side effects. In the horror genre, a possession movie is classic and easy to follow. Ever since The Exorcist, people have known what to expect from the genre, which allows the director to go straight into the action with minimal explanation. If you are like me, you are an action junkie!

The movie is a about a girl and her father, who buy a mysterious box at a garage sale expecting to find wondrous contents contained inside. However, the little girl discovers, to her doom, that the box contains a demon. I am sure you have guessed, even if you have not seen the movie, that Emily then becomes possessed by the demon that lives in the box.

If you are a fan of movies like The Exorcist, you will like The Possession. It has a pretty good cast, which includes Natasha Calis, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and Kyra Sedgwick, whose performances were believable. The main character, Emily (played by Calis), was very convincing as a possessed girl. Overall it is a good movie, but do not expect a life-changing or enlightening experience. Just go and enjoy it for what it is. I certainly had fun watching it. If you saw The Possession, please leave your thoughts about the movie in our Comments section. *Please label Spoiler comments as such*
